Kings off season of change

With a hard cap system, tough decisions have to be made around the league and for the Kings, this meant a very hard offseason of decisions. "In an ideal world, we just spend more and keep players like Ryan OReilly and Brock Nelson. Both are fantastic two way forwards who fit our mould as players and people in our community we love and appreciate. Unfortunately though it isn't that way and we have to plan for now and the future. Ryan deserves every bit of 8mil per season, Brock between 5 and 6 and we could not foresee anyway we could make our cap work with raises for PK Subban this year, Ovi last year, Nate Mackinnon and Seth Jones in the next few years....the dollars quickly run out and so we had to make a change. Ryan and Brock were aware of this in our exit interviews and we thank them for their years of service." So GM Hansford went about finding the best deals for this club and has had a very productive week thus far: Out Ryan Oreilly Brock Nelson In Jordan Greenway Yanni Gourde signed to 5 x 4.75/yr deal Alex Galchenyuk Neal Pionk NYI 1 NYI 3 By acquiring the GGG line, the Kings have acquired a mix of skill, two way play and incredible upside. Neal Pionk slides nicely into a top 6 of Subban, Jones, Schmidt, Pionk, Gudas and Pelech and allows rookies Rosen and Wolanin to play depth roles. They also have three first round picks in what some have described as a sneakily deep draft that they can add to the pool of future Kings, integral to maintaining a competitive team year in and year out. GM Hansford stated they wanted a dynasty and set out to make one and deals like this continue the teams status as a top destination for players in the OTHL.
