Maple Leafs dismantling continues, Cizikas headed to Winnipeg

Pending league approval, the Toronto Maple Leafs have traded forward Casey Cizikas to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for prospect Nicolas Hague and two future third round picks. "I want to thank Casey for his time with the Maple Leafs, he was a valued member of our team and we wish him well in his future with the Jets," said GM Garrett Hansford. "This continues our focus on adding good young skaters who can contribute quickly while also continuing to re-stock our prospect & picks for the future." Hague is expected to sign his entry level contract this summer and will attend the Maple Leafs training camp in the fall with a chance to make the team. He was originally selected 29th overall in the 2017 OTHL Entry Draft. "We had Nic rated highly in his draft year and have been trying to acquire his rights from his previous teams for some time," said Hansford. Hague was traded earlier this season from Boston. After a disappointing start to the season its clear the youth movement is in full bloom in Toronto.
