Flames sign Mr. Game Seven.

Calgary, AB The Calgary Flames have had a busy off-season. From dealing Forsberg for Taylor Hall, to having a busy draft and making a flurry of trades, to adding Andre Burakovsky to the team from Columbus for a 3rd and a 5th. However, GM Alex was not finished, as the team made two deals recently as well as two signings. First, Jesse Puljujärvi was sent off to Carolina for Andrew Copp. Although Puljujärvi is a promising prospect, the Flames felt they needed some more depth in the present, and Copp is a perfect fit for the 3rd or 4th line center position. Copp put up 11 points in 33 games last year for the Hurricanes, and the Flames are hoping to see a bit more production as Copp is only 25 years old. Then the Flames dealt Ben Hutton off to the New York Rangers. Hutton was a surprise last year displacing Tyson Barrie and eventually earning a full time roster spot putting up 5 points in 39 games for the Flames. In return, the Flames received a 2nd round pick from the Rangers, giving them four seconds round picks going into the 2020 draft - at the moment. The Flames also added Taro Hirose this offseason, a great prospect who will start the year with the Heat. The Flames then made two big UFA signings. First was signing Justin Williams to a 1 year deal worth $6 000 000. The Flames were looking for some veteran scoring, and found it with Williams who the Flames hope can add some of the scoring they were badly lacking last season. The next signing was a 2 year, 4.25m per year deal for Roman Polak who will replace Hutton on the blueline. The Flames were looking to add a big PK defense first to one of the league's best defences (as based on last years stats), and got it in Polak. The Flames now find themselves tight up against the cap, with less than 600k in space. Most likely, these will be the last moves before the season. Right now, this looks to be the roster. Victor Arvidsson - Dylan Larkin - Taylor Hall David Perron - Phillip Danault - Tom Wilson Justin Williams - Adam Lowry - Andreas Johnsson Austin Watson - Andrew Copp - Markus Granlund Garnet Hathaway, Zac Dalpe Erik Karlsson - Jaccob Slavin Matt Dumba - Brady Skjei Roman Polak - Jon Merrill Devon Toews Pekka Rinne Casey DeSmith The Flames also have some talent with the Heat in case of emergency call ups. Jack Roslovic, Anthony Duclair, Andre Burakovsky, Steven Santini, Taro Hirose could all be added in case of issues. Let the season begin! Hopefully the Flames will avoid what was a disastrous 18/19 campaign, and succeed in 2020.
